North Newton Township has renewed the Trash & Recycling Collection Agreement with Southampton Township. The new contract was awarded to Apple Valley Waste (aka Park’s) and is effective July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2026.

The rates listed below are guaranteed to stay at the same level for the life of the contract. No fuel surcharge will be added during this time.

Residents may choose from the following levels of service:

  1. Full-service (weekly trash and recycling collection):  $55.00 per quarter
Full-service Senior Citizen rate*:  $49.00 per quarter

This service provides a 96-gallon trash toter, recycling toter and pick up of 1 bulk item per week. Bulk pick up requires a call to the township office prior to your collection day.
Please Note: All trash must be bagged and fit in the provided trash toter. If one trash toter will not suffice, a second service will need to be purchased. Trash collection routes are designed and calculated to accommodate a specific number of customers; extra trash bags are not included in the calculation.
If you are eligible for the Senior Citizen discount (65 and older), please call the office at (717) 776-7665 so the rate change can be made.

  2. Recycling service only:  $37.75 per quarter
This service provides a recycling toter only. Trash and bulk item pickup is not included in this option.

  3. Individual Bag service:  $5.00 per bag
This service allows you to set out a trash bag(s) as needed. Recycling and bulk item pickup is not included in this service. Bags must be purchased at the township office.

North Newton Township residents also have the option to dispose of up to five (5) 30-gallon bags of trash FREE, per week, in addition to disposing of recyclables, by taking them to the Cumberland County Landfill during their normal operating hours (weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.). Stop by the scale house and present identification proving residency to obtain a landfill ID card. Should you need to contact them directly, please call (717) 423-9953.

Please Note: The landfill extended its hours on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for trash drop-off for North Newton Township, Hopewell Township, and Newburg Borough residents only. This does not include items outside of the five (5) 30-gallon bags of non-hazardous household trash. Commercial and cash customers will NOT be accepted during this timeframe.

If you have any questions regarding the program or would like to schedule pick up of a bulk item, please call the township office at (717) 776-7665.
