Burglary and Scam Reminders

Carlisle, PA – The Pennsylvania State Police would like to remind residents to remain vigilant and avoid being a victim of burglary or theft. One of the well-known crimes occurring are distraction burglaries. Usually, an individual will knock on the door to make contact with the homeowner. While the homeowner is distracted, others wait to gain access to the home to steal valuables. The actor(s) play the part of utility company employees, land surveyors, or various other jobs in attempt to gain the trust of the homeowner. We are encouraging the public to contact the police if any suspicious activity is occurring in your neighborhood. Never allow individuals into your home that you do not know or trust.

Scammers are utilizing evolving resources to victimize people out of money. Whether the point of contact is in person, via telephone, social media, or email; never provide personal information to an untrusted source. If you suspect you are being scammed, refuse further conversation and block the number or contact.
