DEP Public Meeting re: Community Refuse Service – August 21st

The Department of Environmental Protection will host a public meeting to answer questions from the public regarding the Community Refuse Service, LLC’s Major Permit Modification Application to increase the average daily volume at the Cumberland County Landfill located in Hopewell and North Newton Townships, Cumberland County. The meeting will be held August 21, 2018 at the North Newton Township Building, 528 Oakville Road, Shippensburg, PA and will begin at 6 pm.

The application is for an increase in the average daily volume from the currently permitted 2500 tons per day to 2950 tons per day. The increase, if granted, would not add additional capacity to the landfill. During the meeting, company officials and DEP staff will answer questions from the public regarding the application and the application review process.

Citizens who require an auxiliary aid, service or other accommodations should contact John Repetz at 717-705-4904 or the Pennsylvania AT&T relay service at 1-800-654-5984 (TDD) to discuss how the department may accommodate their needs.

A copy of permit application can be viewed at DEP’s Southcentral Regional Office located at 909 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, 17110, Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Please call 717-705-4732 to make an appointment.
